We Will Always Have the Poor

O my people, listen to my teaching.

Open your ears to what I am saying,

2 for I will speak to you in a parable.

I will teach you hidden lessons from our past—

3 stories we have heard and know,

stories our ancestors handed down to us.

4 We will not hide these truths from our children

but will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord.

We will tell of his power and the mighty miracles he did.

Psalm 78:1-4 (New Living Translation)

Today is a Sunday. It is my Sabbath. It is the day that I am grateful to live in a country that allows me to worship my Lord. I am especially grateful today that I have a wonderful home church where I may worship and serve with the gifts that God has given me. Today – I did not attend my home church. I am grateful for that also. I am blessed to know many pastors who are not afraid of man’s criticism or opinions; only have a holy fear if they do not speak the message that God has given them. Dr. Wesley Wachob, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church in Pensacola, FL is such a man of God.

So I will say no more – except to invite you to hear the message that I heard today via a webcast from First UMC, Pensacola, FL that is available. Choose the “September 2nd – Table Talk” icon. It is worth your time to hear this and be blessed. And when it is over, ask God what it means to you!
