Seasons

As look back on my life it is not difficult to see “seasons.” An obvious example would be the time I spent at each job in my nursing career. In the almost 35 years that I was an RN, I had five different jobs – and they were very different! I can see the seasons that brought me to a job and the new season that showed me that my time was done. The transitions were really smooth – except in my mind, where I struggled with change and details that were truly in my mind, not based on reality.

Do you know your God-given gifts? All the gifts that God gives aren’t specifically listed in the New Testament.

4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

– Romans 12:4-6 (NIV)

I have two friends and a granddaughter who are very gifted in art. They have used their art to illustrate faith concepts, banners to hang in places of worship, even paintings done during worship that certainly illustrate God’s great love for His children. It’s wonderful to see a young child’s face light up when they understand how much Jesus loves them! Jesus loves Matilda! Jesus loves Sydney! His love lights up their face! It is real!

It wasn’t easy when God indicated that my time as an active duty nurse was done. Physically, I knew it was time but mentally and emotionally, I wasn’t ready to lay down my stethoscope. But God is faithful and led me into the next season. And here I am. Glad to be in this season, this time of my life, using the gifts God gave me to encourage His children, to encourage me, with His love in this season.
